The Old Bell Inn

"Your Legendary Southside Local"

A traditional pub in the heart of Edinburgh's historic Southside, featuring the very best cask conditioned ales from craft brewers all over Scotland, all major sporting events on large screens, and traditional pub grub freshly prepared by the chefs from the New Bell Restaurant upstairs.

The Old Bell Restaurant

Previously the New Bell, our restaurant re-opened under new management in early 2011.

Situated on the top floor of the Old Bell, the restaurant provides traditional Scottish food at its best, while successfully incorporating some European influences. Our focus is on quality food and friendly, efficient service.

Our menu changes seasonally to continuously guarantee fresh ingredients on your plate, and where possible we source our meat and fish locally. This is accompanied by an excellent selection of wines, cask beers and other drinks from the bar, all to be enjoyed in a relaxed, cosy atmosphere.

The Old Bell is an informal restaurant which could just as easily be in the middle of nowhere. From the softly lit, stone exterior through the heavy wooden door to the warm and homely dining room, the feel is of a country hunting lodge or grand hotel bar. Persian rugs are placed over dark floorboards, ceilings are beamed while the walls are adorned with clusters of paintings and photographs hinting at local history.

We also offer a pre-theatre menu and cater respectfully for funerals, weddings, birthdays and private parties.
